Iberia Parish School Board- Special Educational Services
Project Description:
The SPED building offers a mixed-use of office, library, training, child testing, and archive space for the Iberia Parish School Board. Conceptually, the idea was to illustrate the department’s identity within the school system as an expression of the department’s shift away from the standard principles of education necessary to teach children with learning abnormalities. The design investigates the efficiency of the basic orthogonal floor plan contrasted with the addition of an angular spatial shift. The design introduces the office into a secure environment that supports the needs of the staff and maintains a high interaction with the general public.
