Originally constructed in the late 1800s, the condition of the building varied drastically over the years. At the time of construction, the building was structurally unstable and the historic façade was covered with decades of materials from prior renovations. Paul J. Allain, Architect APAC restored the 1896 historic façade with the use of brick and native woods, stabilized the structure, all in keeping with the architectural details of the time period. The Doc Voorhies Wing provided growth opportunities for the owner to expand archiving spaces, traveling exhibit spaces, and research components.
